How healthy is your company’s safety culture?  Are you constantly fighting workers compensation claims?  Do you have workers recovering from injuries that causes you to have overtime?  Do your employees know you value their safety as much as their productivity?

I received this question via email a couple of days ago.

I am wondering about the effect on the employee. I work in an “at will fire” state and we have a large amount of employees who know longer report accidents or injuries for fear of being fired, our “safety committee” does not take statements from employees who are involved in accidents or talk to co workers either, but the result always comes down as the employee is always at fault and given a write up which can lead to termination. This has discouraged employees to report anything to management. We work for an cargo carrier and lots of accident are happening daily. what laws protect us ?
